When we set out to build a home, we stumbled upon this 55 acre slice of heaven, just two hours from central Sydney. The peace, the light, the extraordinary small rural yet cosmopolitan community and those mountain views! We knew this was the place.
Now we want to share this gift with people who appreciate all the above, dream to get away from it all - and still enjoy the pleasures of a life well lived.
“WE just want to share this magical place we call home.”

Five Songs
When the air is still, as the sun and then the moon rise over the Blue Mountains National Park, birdsong echoes through the Megalong Valley.
The iconic laughing Kookaburra, the melodic Australian Magpie, The cheeky Red Wattlebird, the enchanting Superb Lyrebird and majestic Black Cockatoo - five songs that animate this magical place and inspired our namesake.
RESPonsible luxury
Our rural retreat is designed to make you feel well, relaxed and rejuvenated.
We are also fully off-grid, treading lightly on what makes the Megalong Valley so special in the first place.
This means all our water comes from rain harvested on-site, filtered for safe drinking and our power is captured by solar panels and batteries. We also have a power generator for when Mother Nature throws the weather at us. We also use natural gas for the barbecues and to heat water so we can bridge those overcast days.
We just ask you please keep that in mind when running a bath or when leaving the lights and AC on while you’re out exploring.
The on-site septic system is sensitive so please only flush human waste and the toilet paper we supply.
Complimentary fast WiFi comes from satellites above so you can stay connected to the world, even when the mobile phone service is patchy…
HOUSE RULES
-
Welcome to Five Songs of the Megalong — a rural sanctuary where the only things you’ll hear at dawn are birds, wind through gum trees, and the gentle exhale of adults reclaiming quiet. Our Adults-Only, No-Child Policy is not exclusion for exclusion’s sake; it’s a promise: an uninterrupted retreat experience designed for grown-up restoration, connection, and curiosity.
Why Adults-Only?
Purposeful calm: Our property was crafted to offer tranquility and focus. No sudden shrieks from a playground, no stroller traffic on the garden path—just uninterrupted time to read, reflect, talk, or do nothing at all.
Restorative privacy: Whether you’re celebrating a quiet anniversary or simply craving a solo weekend, privacy is amplified when the environment is adults-only.
Social ease: Guests can form deeper connections without worrying about kid logistics. Networking, romance, or slow, meaningful conversation—all flourish when attention isn’t being shared with little ones.
Safety and comfort: Our terrain includes uneven trails, natural bodies of water, and rustic lodging features designed for adult use. A child-free environment reduces safety concerns and ensures facilities meet adult comfort standards.
Who will love it here?
Couples seeking slow, uninterrupted time together.
Solo travelers craving introspection and quiet.
Friends celebrating birthdays or milestones who prefer grown-up energy.
Our commitment
We create space for adults to breathe deeply, reconnect with themselves and each other, and enjoy a rural retreat tailored to mature tastes and needs. This isn’t “no fun”—it’s curated, grown-up fun: unhurried conversation, immersive experiences, and the rare luxury of tranquil dawns.

Five Songs doesn’t offer room service, but rooms are stocked with coffee pods (including decaf), tea bags, sugar and milk, with a Nespresso machine (with milk frother) and electric kettle to make the perfect brew.
We also have instant porridge sachets and premium granola mix in the rooms for an all-day snack.
There is a microwave oven and fridge/freezer inside the pantry and a gas barbecue on the balcony/verandah for cooking.
See our local restaurant and dining recommendations in the Experience section for a gourmet dinner or hearty cooked brunch.

No pets, please. You expect a pristine, private, and perfectly prepared retreat — and we keep it that way by maintaining a strictly pet-free environment. This ensures allergen-free linens, quiet mornings, and unspoiled natural surroundings for every guest. Thank you for helping us preserve the calm.
-
Just a reminder smoking isn’t allowed on the premises, both for health reasons, and to avoid any risks of igniting bushfires. All rooms are fitted with smoke detectors.
-
Please remove shoes indoors to keep the retreat pristine (there’s always a risk of dragging in droppings from our native wildlife enjoying the grounds) and to protect our floors from scratches. Thank you for helping us preserve the space.
-
Living off-grid means every choice counts. We conserve water, energy, and materials to maintain independence and minimize our footprint on the surrounding landscape. Simple habits—collecting rainwater, using low-energy appliances, composting, and repairing rather than replacing—stretch resources and protect local ecosystems. By living intentionally and consuming less, we preserve the beauty and resilience of this place for wildlife and future generations.
We invite you to help us in this endeavour by being mindful of your water and power use during your stay at Five Songs.
-
Flush human waste and toilet paper only. Do not flush condoms, wipes (even those labeled “flushable”), dental floss, paper towels, or feminine hygiene products—these can clog pipes, damage the onsite septic system, and cause costly repairs. No one enjoys the inconvenience.
Please use the bin provided to dispose of all other items.
-
The swimming pool is a shared space for all guests and the owners. It is not supervised and to be used at your own risk, so please use common sense and be safe in an around the pool:
No diving or running around the pool please.
There are plastic cups and glasses provided in the rooms to enjoy while relaxing by the pool. Broken glass is not a good look when walking barefoot…
There is a Pool Safety chart with basic instructions for life saving practices on the pool wall, as mandated by state regulations.
Keep the glass gate latched closed at all times, as per state pool-safe regulations.
Do not attempt to enter or swim in the pool if the thermal blanket is still there. You could risk getting trapped underneath and drown.
Pool hours are typically 9:00am to 9:00pm daily, weather permitting, during spring, summer and autumn months.
The pool is heated via a passive solar pipe system on the roof. If we don’t get enough sun, the heating will be minimal. This means we typically close the pool during the winter months, which also saves on energy to run pumps and filters.
